Another outstanding meal at GW Fins! It quickly became one of our favorite restaurant experiences of all time when we first stopped by in 2024 from Houston, and they lived up to the hype we created for our family in the weeks leading up to our reservation. The service is always top notch without feeling stuffy, and the food… lawdy christ almighty there wasn’t a weak link across three courses for 7 people—and I tried everything that hit the table. GW Fins solidified its spot as our gold standard for both seafood and service. Keep it up, we’ll certainly be back in 2026!

The best meal we have ever had in New Orleans!! GW Fins is a true celebration of seafood (the menu changes daily based on the local fish haul they receive) but far more innovative than any other place we’ve been. Each dish we had was unexpected and creative, yet perfectly executed. The texture, flavor layering, and seasoning of everything we ate was superb. Service was warm and attentive from start to finish. Our server, Dor, was excellent and gave us a great wine recommendation. We will be back again and again! Must-have dishes: lobster dumplings, “scallibut,” and the salty malty dessert.

GW Fins is absolutely top-notch! From start to finish everything was perfect. We went with a party of 15 and had a fantastic time. The service was exceptional this place truly knows how to do hospitality right. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere made the experience even better. GW Fins consistently delivers excellence and I can't recommend it enough. If you're in New Orleans this is a must visit spot.

We went here for our anniversary and we were treated so well, it really did help make our day special. Multiple staff members wished us a happy anniversary. When we arrived at our table, there was a personalized souvenir menu and confetti on our table. We ordered dessert after our meal, but they also brought out two chocolates on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate and a candle. The menu had so many great sounding items on it, it was hard to choose. We shared the panko breaded calamari appetizer, which was tender inside and crispy on the outside. Wonderful sauce. I ordered the Scalibut, a creation of scallops seared onto a halibut filet, served with orzo and snow peas. It was light tasting and fresh. My husband had the yellowfin tuna. I didn't taste it but he really enjoyed it. I had the creme brulee for dessert which was bigger than I expected, and my husband had a coconut on the half shell homemade sorbet dessert in a chocolate shell. Yum! The restaurant has a contemporary decor. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. I would highly recommend them.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely amazing food—everything was flavorful and perfectly portioned. We ordered the tuna, drum, halibut, grouper, pasta, barbecue shrimp and grits, and lobster dumplings, and every dish was delicious. The biscuits were outstanding—so creamy and full of flavor. The ambiance was very nice as well. Highly recommend!

GW Fins in New Orleans serves very good food, but I have to say it didn’t quite live up to the level of hype I had read about. While the meal was enjoyable, I wouldn’t call it a dining experience I’ll remember forever. The highlights for me were the dessert — an ice cream pie — and the complimentary biscuits with whipped butter. Both were absolutely delicious, and the staff happily brought more upon request, which I really appreciated. Those were the two things I’ll most remember from the meal. The other dishes, including the ceviche and the fish they’re known for, were fresh and well-prepared but didn’t stand out in flavor. Everything was good, just not mind-blowing or unforgettable. On the other hand, the atmosphere is beautiful, spacious, and romantic, and the service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and very kind. Overall, GW Fins is a solid choice for fresh seafood in New Orleans, with standout desserts and excellent service, but I didn’t find the main dishes as memorable as I expected given the restaurant’s reputation.

I recently went here with a friend visiting from the west coast. This was my first time and GW Finns and let me tell you I hope to go back! Our waiter was superb! Full of energy (8pm reservation) and made us both feel at ease ordering in spite of our different food allergies! I wish I had better photos of the food, but let me tell you - it did not disappoint! The complementary biscuit reminded me of my Paw Paws (RIP). Buttermilk good. I ordered the Pork Chop and it was so tender and flavorful! The risotto was creamier than I am used to - which isn't a bad thing just mentioning it's different. It was delicious! And the collard greens were the best I have ever had ever! And ohhhhh the sweet potatoes tasted like a dessert itself. We had the Coconut on the Half Shell for dessert which was a perfect top off to the meal. Next time I really want to try the Salty Malty Ice Cream Pie.

Very good food and service. Starting with the good the lobster bisque and calamari was really good. I have definitely never had calamari like I've had here. The star of the show was the desserts. The creme brulee was kind of basic creme brulee there wasn't much special with it but the coconut thing was really good and I've never had that anywhere. The biscuits they serve were hard as rocks and we're just not good at all. The main thing I didn't like is I got a reservation and didn't realize there was a dress code for this place so when we got there they kind of said that I was looking bad even though I was just wearing a T-shirt and pants. But you have to have I guess some kind of button up top with a collar or something to be able to sit in the restaurant. But she did let us sit in the bar area. And we did only come here to get dessert but there's another rule that they don't tell you about is that you have to order more than just dessert. Which I think is a weird rule but whatever. It just made us feel extremely uncomfortable and I definitely did not like that. but the food that we got made up for the fact and we actually would like to come back again because there's other stuff on their menu that look very good
